These gluten-free Asian Chicken Salad Wraps feature a mayo-free, sweet, and tangy mango chicken salad rolled up with lettuce leaves and gluten-free tortillas. Flavorful and filling, they’re perfect for packed lunches or quick dinners!
Why You’ll Love These Wraps
This Asian chicken salad is so good it will have even those who don’t like chicken salad singing its praises! Seriously. If we’re being honest, we aren’t huge fans of chicken salad, either.
We love our chicken salad sliders and green goddess chicken salad wraps. However, as far as classic mayo-based chicken salad goes, we can do without. Luckily, these chicken cabbage wraps are nothing like the recipe you grew up with!
Completely mayo-free, they’re full of sweet, savory, tangy in every bite. Quick to prepare these wraps are:
- High-protein and loaded with nutrients
- Gluten-free, dairy-free, and low-carb-friendly
- Great for meal prep
Ingredients and Substitutes
Prepare them for picnics, packed lunches, and weeknight meals even the kids will love.
Asian Chicken Salad
- Chicken – Use pre-made shredded chicken. Or, buy a rotisserie chicken, and shred it to pieces.
- Green Onions – Use the green portion only, discarding the white parts.
- Mango – Look for mangoes that have a fruity smell and are firm but give just slightly when squeezed.
- Shredded Cabbage – Substitute a bag of coleslaw mix if you can’t find cabbage.
- Lettuce Leaves – use any kind of lettuce you like best. Opting for large leaves instead of shredded lettuce makes the wraps easier to fold.
- Gluten-Free Tortillas – Use your favorite store-bought or homemade gluten-free tortillas.
Pro-Tip: If you want to keep this recipe lower carb and gluten-free, use lettuce wraps or cabbage leaves instead of tortillas.
Dressing
- Plain Yogurt – Non-dairy yogurt also works if you need to keep this recipe dairy-free.
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil – This creates a smooth consistency with a rich taste.
- Rice Vinegar – Adds a subtle sweet, tangy flavor to the dressing. Lemon or lime juice will also work.
- Honey – Feel free to substitute maple syrup if preferred.
- Organic White Miso Paste or substitute* – If you can’t find miso paste, whisk together 1 tablespoon of creamy almond butter, cashew butter, or tahini and 2 teaspoons of gluten-free tamari sauce or coconut aminos.
- Minced Garlic – Substitute ¼ teaspoon garlic powder if needed.
- Salt and Pepper – Adjust to taste.
Note: Miso means ‘fermented beans’ in Japanese. Miso paste is made with fermented soybeans and contains millions of beneficial bacteria which can improve gut health. There are many different types of miso, with versions linked to regional cuisines, identities, and flavors. However, for these wraps, we want to look for organic gluten-free miso paste without barley.
Health Benefits of Cabbage
We love it for its crisp texture and refreshing taste, but cabbage is also full of health benefits, too! For instance, cabbage is:
- Low in carbs and calories
- A good source of fiber
- Rich in folate, manganese, calcium, potassium, and magnesium
- An excellent source of vitamin K and vitamin C
How to Make Asian Chicken Salad Wraps
- Combine the salad ingredients. Stir the chicken, green onions, mango, and shredded cabbage in a large bowl.
- Prepare the dressing. Whisk the yogurt, oil, rice vinegar, honey, miso, and garlic in a separate bowl until smooth.
- Toss. Pour the dressing over the chicken mixture, and toss to combine and coat. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Wrap. Place a lettuce leaf on top of each tortilla. Top them with the chicken salad mixture, and roll them up tightly!

Common Questions
We don’t recommend assembling the wraps ahead of time as they’re likely to become soggy. However, you can store the chicken salad mixture in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
Pair these wraps with all your favorite sides for a complete meal! Some of our favorite options include air fryer asparagus fries, kale chips, and sweet potato fries.
We don’t recommend it as it’s not likely to thaw well.
For extra bulk, stuff the wraps with extra produce like shredded carrots, water chestnuts, fresh cilantro, or scallions.!

I am a huge rotisserie chicken fan. I get home and start to debone it, but eat half of it in the process. There’s something about it… which is why I need this recipe. I love miso, but almost never think to use it!
Also, my dad loved him some Boston Market. Chicken, potatoes, and those cornbread muffin things. I, however, hated it. I was such a picky child that the only thing I’d eat from there was the friend skin off the chicken. So gross. LOL!
LOL! Best story bro! I would have loved your dad. <3
HOLY WOW. We could totally make these with our CSA this week! If only we weren’t supposed to be eating out every day…
lunch! i deliver! ;P
I definitely need to uncorporate more miso into my life. It’s such a wonderdul flavor!
isn’t it the best? LOVE!
