I’ll admit, I’m not usually a huge fan of green beans—unless they’re crispy or baked into a casserole. But that all changed when I discovered how amazing they taste in the air fryer!

These air fryer green beans are crispy, flavorful, customizable, and so easy to make. They’re the perfect side dish, even for picky eaters like me!

Tips for Success

  • Prepare the green beans. Before you begin, make sure to rinse and dry your green beans, trim the edges, keeping them about 4 to 6 inches long before cooking.
  • Adjust the Time – French green beans (haricots verts) generally cook faster than regular green beans because they are thinner and more tender. You might need to reduce the cooking time slightly when using them.
  •  Work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Make sure to arrange the green beans in an even layer in the air fryer basket. If it’s overcrowded and the green beans overlap they won’t turn out crispy!

Ingredients You’ll Need

Below is an overview of the ingredients and instructions for this air fryer green beans recipe. Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details and nutrition information!

  • Fresh Green Beans – You’ll need one pound of green beans for this recipe. Look for vibrant green beans that are free from discoloration or dark spots. You may use French green beans or haricots verts, but these are thinner and more delicate compared to regular green beans.
  • Oil – I prefer the stronger flavor of olive oil, but a neutral flavor oil, such as refined avocado oil will also work.
  • Lemon Juice – Freshly squeezed is best! The acidity helps cut some of the heaviness of the oil, for a well-rounded taste.
  • Seasonings – Garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper add just a touch of savoriness.

How to Make Air Fryer Green Beans

  1. Combine. Add the green beans to a large mixing bowl. Drizzle the oil, lemon juice, and seasonings on top. Then, toss to combine and coat.

  1. Arrange. Line or grease an air fryer basket with cooking oil. Arrange the green beans in a single layer.
  2. Cook. Close the basket, and air fryer at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 8 to 10 minutes, shaking halfway through. Enjoy!

Pro-Tip: Every air fryer is different. So, adjust as needed. If you prefer less crispy green beans, you can fry at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. Experiment with what you like best!

Serving Suggestions

Feel free to enjoy these green beans in the air fryer with all your favorite main courses! They pair well with everything. However, if you’re looking for inspiration, some of our favorite options include:

  • Instant Pot Whole Chicken
  • Broiled Lamb Chops
  • Oven Baked BBQ Salmon
  • Balsamic Roasted Cranberry Chicken

Health Benefits

Not only are they super versatile with recipes like vegan green bean casserole and balsamic braised green beans, but green beans are also extremely nutritious! For example, they’re an excellent source of:

  • Vitamin K
  • Vitamin C
  • Folate
  • Iron
  • Potassium
  • Fiber

As a result, including them in a healthy diet can help improve digestion, control blood sugar, promote bone health, boost your immune system, and improve heart health.

Common Questions

How long do air fryer green beans last?

Stored in an airtight container, leftovers will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Can I freeze leftovers?

Yes, you can store leftovers in the freezer in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Just note that the texture and flavor will change slightly. The green beans will still be tasty, though!

What’s the best way to reheat?

We recommend reheating leftovers in the air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit just until warm, shaking halfway through. You can also warm your green beans in the microwave, but they won’t be as crisp.

How can I add more flavor to my green beans?

Feel free to add a sprinkle of grated parmesan cheese, soy sauce, lemon zest, or red pepper flakes for even more flavor!
